Hydrodiffusion de Guatemala S.A. was founded in the City of Guatemala in 1983. At that time, a revolutionary system to extract the essential oils from plants, called the INVERSE HYDRODIFFUSION SYSTEM, was develop and patented in Switzerland. It promised to produce better quality oils, which is certainly true for most essential oils. Over the past 38 years, HYDRODIFFUSION has grown into a major supplier of Cardamom Oil to the perfumery industry worldwide and this also applies for the pharmaceutical and food industry as well, since our products are highly appreciated.

Our oils are Kosher certified and are registered with the FDA. We are members of the International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades (IFEAT). All our exports are properly documented to customers and international standards and specifications.

Quality

Selecting the perfect Seed

In order to produce a top quality oil only the best seeds are selected for our manufacturing process. For even better control of our raw material, we have selected the best cardamom seed selleres of all the country that have specialized in a adquiring the best producers of the 300,000 harvest communities in the different areas of Guatemala.

They take special care in selecting the seeds at the right time and dry them in a benevolent way to preserve the yield and the characteristics of the oil. More than 50% of our needs are bought from small producers, from the areas of Huehuetenango, Alta Verapaz, Baja Verapaz and Izabal. We are constantly looking for new vendors that can provide compliant products to our needs.

Production

Cardamom Seed production is a very important activity as it involves an estimated 300,000 small producers. Taking into account that the value of 100 lbs of dried Cardamom Seeds is almost equal to the minimum monthly wage (2017), one can appreciate the importance of this additional income to them.
